FORT COLLINS, COLO - Lighting With a Twist, the campaign Platte River Power Authority spearheaded in its owner communities last Fall to increase customer purchases of compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) , has received a Gold Peak Award--Public Relations as judged by the Colorado American Marketing Association (Colorado AMA).
The Gold Peak Award in Public Relations is presented to the entry judged to exhibit the best promotional materials used in a new or ongoing program to influence public awareness, opinion or behavior on a particular product, service or topic.
Lighting With a Twist materials were developed utilizing input from the staffs of Platte River's member municipal utilities and participating retailers. Materials included an informational brochure customized for each municipality, banners, printed advertising, point-of-purchase materials and radio advertisements among others.
The more than 200,000 CFLs sold during the Lighting With a Twist campaign will save enough energy to power 425 homes.
