Platte River Power Authority will use a low-flying helicopter to conduct an infrared scan of its substations and transmission lines from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on August 7. The purpose of the scan is to help ensure a continued high level of electrical reliability by checking equipment for hot spots or anything else that could cause equipment failures. Transmission lines will also be checked for adequate clearance from the ground and vegetation.
No times have been scheduled to fly over specific areas.
