Platte River Commits to State For Climate Action Plan

FORT COLLINS, COLO - Platte River Power Authority's Board of Directors has unanimously passed a resolution committing the organization to create a Climate Action Plan by June 2009. Platte River's Board includes Estes Park Mayor Bill Pinkham, Estes Park Utilities Director Bob Goehring, Fort Collins Mayor Doug Hutchinson, Fort Collins Utilities Executive Director Brian Janonis, Longmont Mayor Roger Lange, Longmont Power & Communications Director Tom Roiniotis, Loveland Mayor Gene Pielin and Loveland Water & Power Director Ralph Mullinix.

According to the Governor's Energy Office, Platte River is the first utility in the State to voluntarily commit to delivering a plan outlining how it proposes to achieve goals outlined in the Governor's Colorado Climate Action Plan, which was issued in November 2007.

"Platte River has long been a leading utility when it comes to environmental stewardship," said General Manager Brian Moeck. "We look forward to developing the plan and working with our Board of Directors and the Governor's Energy Office during the process."
